Our last regional meeting was held on May 7 and 8 at the Beverly Heritage Hotel in Milpitas, California. Meetings were packed with enthusiastic and energetic people. The meeting was a great success.

Phenolic compounds in olive oil, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-clotting properties, may explain cardiovascular health benefits associated with the so-called Mediterranean Diet, according to a new study in the Nov. 15, 2005, issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Olive oil's heart effect located

The phenol content of olive oil appears to be important for protecting the heart.

Scientists say they have pinpointed the micronutrients in olive oil that make it a good heart protector.
